January 11 to February 21, 2020

Preliminary Week:  January 4-10, 2020

Developing a relationship with a skilled teacher is instrumental to maturing a lucid dreaming practice.  This quality of learning cannot be found solely through books, standardized courses, or reading about lucid dreaming on the web.  Moreover, learning with others and from within your own home holds advantages that can flourish your dream-life in previously unseen ways.

Drawing upon modern psychological theory, scientific research, and Eastern practices, this online workshop presents elite instruction for lucid dreaming and applying lucidity toward valued interests.  Complemented by skills-teaching in mindfulness meditation, the course offers a powerfully, integrative approach to help you develop a clearer understanding of your mind's contents and promote lucidity whether awake or in your dreams.

This intensive group program covers:

  • Methods for inducing high-quality, transformative lucid dreams that are grounded in scientific theory and experimental evidence.

  • Resolving nightmares and inner conflicts.

  • Lucid dreaming as a platform for ongoing personal growth, shadow work, and self-integration.

  • Tools for improving clarity of cognitions that interfere with or promote lucidity.

  • The application of mindfulness and meditation for enhancing induction and other lucid dreaming techniques.

  • The nature of perception, reality, and the self.

  • Lucid dreaming, death, and transcendence.

  • The Tibetan yogas of dream and sleep.

  • Applying lucidity practices and principles to enhance your waking reality.

  • More

Program Structure:

  • Multimedia coursework delivered in 6 weekly modules.

  • Weekly group coaching calls (with replays) for reinforcing skill-building, integrating lucid dream experiences, and Q&A.  (Mondays 4:30pm PST)

  • Ongoing expert feedback online as you complete assignments, share dream journal entries, and post comments and questions.

  • Guided audio exercises and nocturnal meditations.

  • Practical, step-by-step guidance and instruction.

  • Community, support, and sharing of experiences and training interactions with other students.

  • Preliminary week of training (Jan. 4 - 10, 2020) to familiarize yourself with the learning management system.

Kristen LaMarca PhD is a teacher, researcher, and consultant with an undeniable enthusiasm for the state of lucidity. As a co-facilitator for several of the intensive training programs of the Lucidity Institute since 2010, Kristen is well-versed in the best practices for lucid dreaming and most current research. She has conducted research on an integrated protocol of lucidity induction techniques, and the effects of cholinergic stimulation on lucid dreaming.  You can learn more about her professional background by visiting her biography at Lucidity Sleep & Psychiatry.

Kristen's style as an instructor emphasizes a process-based approach to skill-building that blends personally-tailored coaching, mindfulness meditation, and other research-supported strategies.  She works closely with students to harness their unique strengths and overcome limiting factors. As an avid, personal practitioner of lucid dreaming for almost 15 years, she finds her inspiration not only from her own lucid dreams but also by helping others nurture their own.

...profound and life changing for me.  It has taken my life to a deeper level.  Now that I have new tools, I am excited to see where I will take my lucid dreams and they take me.

How long should I devote to the course material per week?

You can choose a level of engagement in this course that suits your schedule. A minimal level of engagement would include 60-90 minutes of weekly lecture material and guided practices. Most material is in the form of audio lecture that can be listened to anytime. Lectures are also accompanied by visual aids and teaching notes. Weekly webinars are meant to reinforce course material, and last an hour. You are additionally encouraged to spend time dream journaling, completing worksheets, participating in group discussions, practicing guided meditations and exercises, and conducting induction skills on your own time. A maximal level of engagement would include completing the optional worksheets so you can receive structured, personal feedback from Kristen, and contributing to the Group "Stream" of consciousness in our community timeline. It is possible that not everyone who enrolls will have a schedule that allows the maximal level of engagement that is offered by this intensive course. An alumni program that extends beyond this 6-week workshop is also available so you can continue learning and connecting at a pace that works for you. Webinar replays also remain available to all for the remainder of the year so you can catch up if you fell behind during the class.

What happens if I miss a week or fall behind?

It is ok to miss a week and you will have chances to catch up with the program later. During the course, you will still receive and have access to materials if you fall behind the weekly module schedule. Due dates are just "suggestions " and designed to keep you on track so you can receive timely and adequate feedback on your practice. All assignments are optional. After the course, there is a 1-week grace period when you will still be able to access course material, view previous posts, and share your experiences. The webinar replays will be available at least until January 2021. An alumni extension program is also available for those who desire to continue their training. Several training options are available to match your preferences and schedule from a minimal to maximal level of engagement.

Do I need to be online at specific times?

The eCourse is designed so you can listen to audio lectures, review materials, and share your experiences online at any time that you have internet access. The weekly webinars will take place at a specific time for 60 minutes. Webinars are scheduled at Pacific Standard Time (PST). If you miss a webinar, it will be recorded for you to watch at a later time. The group will be alerted when a recording has been posted. The recorded webinars will be available for viewing after the course at least until Dec. 31, 2020.

Can international residents participate?

International residents may participate in this program. Keep in mind that the webinar meetings will take place at Pacific Standard Time (PST). You must also be fluent in written and spoken English.

How much personalized feedback will I really receive throughout the course?

Your contributions through the software platform are critical for creating an individual and group learning experience that can catalyze your development as a lucid dreamer. The time you put into the online course will also shape your live webinar experience. When you submit your questions, assignments, or dream journal entries, the instructor will respond through email, comments on your posts or written assignments, or by discussing training issues during the live webinars. Staying on top of "due dates" will increase the amount of instructor feedback you can receive through the online training system. Other group members may also post replies to the contributions you make to the group timeline. To increase access to instructor feedback, please share your work (e.g. worksheets, dream reports, questions) to the group stream so other group members can learn from your training interactions.

Can lucid dreaming help me with my struggles with mental health?

While lucid dreaming has applications to mental health, this course is not appropriate for individuals seeking to use lucid dreaming to heal from current psychological disorders or conditions. California residents may contact Dr. LaMarca at her practice ( www.luciditysleeppsych.com) to discuss opportunities to undergo Lucid Dreaming Therapy. Alternatively, the International Association for the Study of Dreams ( www.asdreams.org) may be able to refer you to a licensed professional that works with lucid dreaming in your area.

Why should I take this program? What does it prepare me to do?

This online program has been built to offer an exceptional learning experience in lucid dreaming that is complemented by training in mindfulness and science-based approaches. The course intends to provide comprehensive training via an innovative online learning format that will help you integrate lucid dreaming skills into your normal daily routines. As meditation and lucid dreaming are associated with each other, this program is one of the few online trainings that offers a dual emphasis to optimize your ability to be familiar with your mind's contents and dream lucidly. The experience is designed to enable you to increase how frequently you access the lucid dream state, build mastery, and improve confidence to self-direct your continued growth as a lucid dreamer. Throughout the program, you will hone skills to aid in developing a level of "peak performance" in the lucid dream state through didactic learning, individualized feedback, and discussion. You’ll learn to correctly apply tools that promote lucidity and troubleshoot problems that may impede your practice.

What does it mean that the course is in "beta?"

Kristen has been teaching lucid dreaming for years in a variety of contexts and program formats. The Mindful Lucid Dreaming™ online workshop was first implemented in 2019 to extend an intensive skills-training program to enlivening your dream-life from your very own home. Your participation will be assisting in the testing of the current software and systems. This is a unique opportunity to obtain expert-level feedback on your practice while learning the most effective techniques for a smaller investment.

When are the weekly webinars scheduled?

Mondays at 16:30 Pacific Standard Time (PST). You can watch the recordings later, which will remain accessible for viewing after the program. If some unforseen circumstance (e.g. illness) requires the instructor to reschedule, the class will be alerted as soon as possible.

Does your program involve taking supplements like galantamine?

DISCLAIMER: Supplements like Galantamind have health risks that include side effects and drug interactions, and should not be consumed by certain populations. Never start any dietary supplements or medications without consulting with your medical doctor first. Research shows that galantamine substantially stimulates lucid dreaming when combined with an integrated induction protocol that includes MILD training and sleep interruption. However, galantamine is not appropriate for everyone and is not a requirement for increasing your ability to lucid dream. This course will provide a general overview of the research and a protocol for using galantamine correctly during Week 3. However, this information is for educational purposes, and NOT a recommendation to consume galantamine. For questions on where to buy galantamine, Life Enhancement's "Galantamind" is recommended as a reliable, reputable source. Purchasing through this link will provide a small commission at no extra cost to you to the Lucidity Institute to support ongoing research on lucid dreaming. You may also consider purchasing direct from the manufacturer, however, a d irect donation to Lucidity Institute for making this research possible in the first place is sugggested. (Note. If you are new to taking galantamine, you may like to consider purchasing the 4 mg capsules instead of 8 mg.) You may also consider asking your primary doctor for a prescription. It can help to show your doctor the research on galantamine and share that lucid dreaming has creative and therapeutic, off-label benefits to enhance well-being and healing. Keep in mind that a prescription for galantamine will become part of your health records, and if you use insurance, your insurance records. It may be better to pay out-of-pocket for a prescription of galantamine than use your health insurance.

Am I guaranteed to have lucid dreams in this program?

Results are not guaranteed by this program and will vary from person to person. As this is a beta program, adequate data has not been collected on how well it helps people induce lucid dreaming. With that said, shorter-term, intensive programs using similar techniques in groups who have high dream recall, interest, and motivation to lucid dream show success rates of about 75%. Individual factors will likely play a role in your success at lucid dreaming during this training. If you have concerns whether this program is right for you, contact Kristen to discuss.

When does the course begin?

The program officially begins at 8:00 AM Pacific Standard Time (PST) on January 11, 2020. Preliminary Week will begin at 8:00 AM Pacific Standard Time (PST) on January 4, 2020 to allow you to get set up with the Learning Management System.

What is "Preliminary Week?"

A week prior to the program start, you will be able to access the Learning Management System online to familiarize yourself with controls and ask questions. It is recommended for all to participate so that you know how to navigate the program and technical issues do not interfere with your learning. You will also have opportunities to begin connecting with other students, using your digital dream journal, and sharing dreams in the Group Stream. While preliminary week participation is recommended to all, those who have technical savvy or have taken the course previously may prefer to wait until Jan. 11th to begin their training.

Are student discounts available?

Students are eligible for a 40% discount off the full list price in the form of a rebate. After you purchase your registration, email Kristen a copy of your current class schedule and ID card and you will receive the rebate in your original form of payment within approximately1-2 weeks.

Can I repeat the course for a discount?

Learning lucid dreaming has many layers and complexities. Some people benefit from more time and expert attention to master the art of lucid dreaming. Repeating this course while receiving ongoing feedback from Kristen could help in learning skill applications and concepts on a deeper, more experiential level. Alumni are eligible for a 25% discount off the full list price in the form of a rebate. Contact Kristen after you have purchased your registration to request the rebate. Your rebate will be received in the original form of payment within approximately 1-2 weeks.
