An "Eve" of Lucidity: Out-of-Body Experiences, Astral Projection & WILDs
Time & Location
About The Event
It is a time of year we are surrounded by spooky shadow archetypes, ghosts, demons, and other-worldly entities. Could it be nearing All Hallow’s Eve? Or…could you be dreaming?
The lucid dream state—and its endless possibilities—are accessible through meditation and other techniques as you drift off to sleep. These are called Wake-Initiated Lucid Dreams (WILDs) because you consciously witness yourself fall asleep and begin to dream while knowing you are dreaming. WILDs are a powerful method that allow direct entry into the lucid dream state, relying less on prospective memory than a typical dream in which lucidity onset occurs amidst an ongoing dream.
During a WILD, it is common to witness the body go into a state of sleep paralysis. The sleep-wake transition is often charged with anomalous experiences. You may have the perception of leaving your body, or be visited by dark and frightful images, the “Old Hag,” ghosts-like figures, and other ominous beings. If fully lucid, it can be quite a thrill to have such direct, face-to-face interactions with your personal shadow. These are magnificent opportunities to engage and attempt to reconcile with your inner darkness—becoming a more whole, integrated individual.
On October 17, 2018 at 7pm, we will be meeting at Eve Encinitas for a night of sharing and connecting with other explorers of the fringes of consciousness. Kristen will give a brief presentation on WILDs with practical instructions on how to deliberately induce them more regularly. We will also have lots of time for casual discussion of how to apply the state—once lucid—toward valued interests, and how WILDs relate (or don’t relate) with OBEs and astral projection activity.
Scientists believe that OBEs and "astral travel" are really just a misnomer for WILDs, as they can have similar experiential features. On the other hand, adept meditators and even the Dalai Lama have hinted at the possibility of purposefully inducing OBEs or visiting astral realms. We are intending a lively discourse on these differences in opinions during our time together, and look forward to pulling from the knowledge-bases of people from all camps.
Join us for all or part of the night! Eve is a delightful spot with vegan-friendly food and lots of good vibes. Hope to see you there.
